Mike Boyle first joined the Student International Business Council at Notre Dame in 1989 soon after the Council’s founding.  He was initially attracted by the unusually nice sweaters worn by the organization’s founder, Frank Potenziani.  After listening to Frank’s inspiring message, he jumped in with both feet.  As a student, he led the Roundtable Speaker series, hosting business and academic leaders at well-appointed Morris Inn conference rooms.  He credits the SIBC with once-in-a-lifetime professional growth, and values the friendships he formed along the way.  Mike graduated from Notre Dame in 1991.  Since then, he has served the IBC in various capacities, most recently as an outside director on the board.  Professionally, Mike has worked both as an entrepreneur and a corporate manager with particular expertise in the energy industry.  As a futures trader at Mirant Corporation, Mike managed a proprietary company account in electricity and natural gas derivatives during the Enron go-go days.  More recently, he rejoined Mirant to lead its alternative fuels effort.  In this capacity he is responsible for strategy and business development with regard to substitute fuels for the company’s portfolio of coal, oil and natural gas-fired power plants.  Mirant (NYSE: MIR) owns and operates power generation assets in deregulated markets throughout the US.  Mike resides in downtown Atlanta with his two dogs, Missy and Deuce.  He looks forward to helping the IBC grow and make a difference in the parts of the world with the greatest human need.
